How to make scarier?

Posted by doffu0000 - December 17th, 2023

How do I make this scarier? It's my first attempt at an alien which will be the main scare/enemy in a horror game demo.

nah it looks already disgustingly creepy to me if imma be honest

Man thats already terrifying lol

Make it's eyes hyper realistic and bleeding.

Perhaps make the head less symmetrical; currently it resembles a face with ears which some might see as cute. Less symmetry on the fleshy growths/add more of them and perhaps less prominent eyes.

Scary is in the eye of the beholder, though, and depends on a lot of factors, ranging from behavior and animations, to how used the player is to the enemy, and even personal fears they have.

(Edit: Whismur in the tags? Is this a mutated Pokémon? Lmao)

add some strange hair and fur to make it more disgusting and add a member of the human body instead of these spider legs. :)

Honestly? Make it so it blends more into the enviroment, or that its always partially wreathed in shadow.
You ever saw how Spiders move?Augment its movement like that, first moment calm, second moment frighteningly quick. Make it somewhat smart too as too not always attacking but always sometimes peeking from the corner of a ceiling or wall too.
But looks wise? Hmmmm, make it a bit hairy, and the eyes somewhat glowing in the dark, make the legs looks as if they are constantly moving, therefore the hair. You know about house centipedes?Yeah make the legs move in that eerie fluid motion.Maybe some faint cracking of bone when its near. You gotta keep the tension up,and making the player super quiet so he can more easily spot it is a good way of making them take the monster seriously.
TLDR:Make it more hairy, and camouflaged so it takes longer for the player to notice.Keep him in suspense, and make it calculated.Keep as a almost unseen monster and let the imagination do the rest.

keep it in the shadows and sometimes show the legs so the players imagination goes wild or something
